Synchrotron THz and IR Workshop

The Synchrotron Infrared Workshop will comprise of presentations covering the capabilities of both the IR Microscope and the THz/Far-IR IR beamlines at the Australian Synchrotron, and applications from both these beamlines as well as from international facilities.  There will be a particular emphasis on THz and Far-IR applications. Speakers will include Mike Martin from the ALS synchrotron (Berkeley, USA), Greg Metha from the University of Adelaide, Robert Falconer from the University of Sheffield (UK), Bayden Wood from Monash University (Aus) and Pascale Roy from the AILES beamline at the SOLEIL synchrotron (France).

The THz/Far-IR beamline team will be presenting condensed-phase techniques which are currently available at the beamline as well as future techniques that we would like to develop. In addition, there will be some presentations from Users about the studies they have conducted at the THz/Far-IR beamline.

An overview of the IR Microspectroscopy (IRM) beamline capabilities, and ongoing developments will be given, along with a presentation on Data analysis methods relevant to working on synchrotron IR data. Guidance on applying for access to the beamline will also be provided.  These talks will be complemented by presentations from users of the IRM beamline giving relevant examples of work conducted at the IRM beamline.
